Trying to break this habit, I took the quilt with us to the shop and auditioned a number of fabrics for binding. Guess what? I came home with yet another black & white dot. Really, it looked the best against all those hot colors!
Time to trim...decided I wanted a random wavy edge, so I just got the rotary cutter and went to work winging my way rulerless around the quilt! I made a binding from 2" bias strips of the b&w dot and put it on.
I like the result!
On to the next project!
Black & white rocks ~ if it works, stick with it!
ReplyDeleteIt's fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt. I love all the elements. Especially the quilting, the story, and the wavy edges. Good idea for a whimsical quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe wavy edge really suits the quilt. I would be way too scared to do that without a ruler in case I slipped.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Connie's b/w comment. I use it a lot too and it just seems perfect with bright fun colors. The curvy edges look great.
ReplyDeleteWow -- I love it! You're so brave to take the rotary cutter to the edge, but it suits your quilt perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI've used black and white dots for bindings, too, and I always love it! Love the way you've waved the edges of this quilt!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely quilt, the colors are fun in the eyes, it's like one cheerful quilt.
