I have had several e-mails asking about my methods and I answered them privately, but I'll repeat some here for those who may be wondering.
I am using a variety of acrylic products; Jacquard's Dye-na-Flow, Tsukeniko inks,Liquitex Artists inks, Jacquard's Pearl Ex Pigments and others. The beauty of acrylics is that you can mix and match them., and they clean up easily.
Since they are all very thin like dye, I thicken them with shaving cream for large open expanses, and with Aloe gel for areas that are smaller and more detailed so that I have total control and can hold them to the drawn line.
I use regular artists brushes that are designed for acrylics.
The cloth is Pimatex prepared for dyeing. It's a nice high thread count that has a slick and smooth surface that allows the inks to flow easily from the brush to get even the most minute detail without the weave of the cloth distracting the surface.
I draw my designs on the cloth with Prismacolor pencils. If I know ahead of time what color I plan , I use that color to draw...if I haven't decided yet, I use the pale gray.
Any other questions, just contact me and I'll be happy to answer.
For now, another look at the painting in progress.
I have several videos on my website demonstrating my methods of resists/masks and various methods of painting.
This will be beautiful, Deb. I see the process but have not tried it yet. You are a pro!! Thanks for sharing.
