But now we are getting the inside stuff done...slowly at first, but then I realized the holidays are just around the the corner...and the end of the year follows quickly, so we have ramped up into high gear!
After getting one estimate for painting the inside... of over $13,000 dollars...once I caught my breath, I decided we could do that...Actually hubby could do that with me supervising and touching up after him :)
He, being the good sport he is, agreed and he started this weekend. Already, the change is huge and I can feel my spirits lighten with the addition of the colors!
Living room before...
notice everything is beige.
After painting started
Now the tray ceiling looks like it is neon...it is not. It is 2 shades darker than the wall color...the light tonight just wasn't good for getting true color.. And the beams are now a rich chocolate brown. The living room painting has been finished since I took this photo and I love it. My
The new wood floors will be installed the week of Nov 13th; the extra fridge, pantry, new microwave; new range hood will be installed Wed. The granite counters, new sink and faucet later this week.
The new fireplace insert got installed last week. We have a gas fireplace, but we replaced the old ceramic log insert with a new fireglass insert...nice and contemporary and lots of "bling" not to mention it puts out a lot more heat. I'll take a photo of that later this week after the cold front comes through when we turn it on.
I'm changing out kitchen cabinet hardware and lighting to update the look too. and I'm doing my own backsplash...design and install! I'm using a combo of tumbled marble tiles in varying sizes and art glass. To give you any idea of my planned layout, I'll show you my mock up.
This is the marble I'm using... 1"x1" tiles, 2"x2" tiles, 4"x4" tiles and 2"x4" tiles.... then penny round art glass. my glass hasn't arrived yet, so I place glass marbles where the art glass will go to give you an idea of the layout.
The actual glass I'm using is this

Other than painting, adding wood flooring, and new uphostery in the dining room. I'm re-purposing my boring dining room chandelier. Here you can see it as it is now...boring and lots of glare
even with the lights dimmed or out...still not what I want.
Now the room is being painted a soft coral, but that light still needs work. So, I spray painted that shiny silver with a nice hammered bronze finish....much better, but still needs work.
So I bought some linen shades
Which I painted with Turquoise Pearl Ex pigments and a blend of acrylic polymer and fabric medium
I'm adding some bling in the form of crystals...these are just simple acrylic crystals I bought that were in the Christmas deco aisle at Lowes
better photo of the bling
attached with these cute little magnets that are meant for jewelry closures...I got them at Jo Ann's
I still need to add some crystal trim around the bottom edge of the shades, but I'll show you that when the transformation is complete.
And last, but not least...Bouree has been helping Don with the painting....it took me forever to get all the paint off his paws....
Now, I need to get busy and finish my challenge piece for this month!
Should have know it wouldn't be long before you busted out the tropical colored paint! Tell Don to be careful on the ladder.
