More Kitty pictures

but not for the faint of heart... Today I captured them in "hunting" mode.

Chloe with her catch...

Harry watching  and waiting his turn....

damn, she killed it...guess I'll have to eat it now

So those of you who don't have cats, don't bother to complain.  Cats are predators, lizards (among other things) are their prey. It is the natural order of things. And here in our indoor/outdoor world where there are no barriers from inside to outside except for screens which the lizards ignore...well, the cats hunt.

Now, I guess I'd better get back to painting those lizards on my quilt ....at least they aren't crawling all over my house :)

Kitties

Well, the blog is called Rags N Quilts.

It has been brought to my attention that we have been seriously lacking on the "Rags" side of the equation.  So tonight I'll try to rectify that.  It has been unusually cold here in Southwest Florida since the beginning of January.  My babies are native Floridians, so they are VERY upset with the cold weather.

So this is how they have been spending their days....Kim, these are for you :)

I'm still painting "Solar Powered".......hopefully I finish before it kills me.

Getting close....

Tomorrow I'll have a break from painting as I'm headed out to do a lecture and trunk show. But after that, I'll be back to grindstone.

It's been a few days....

But I have been hard at work.  Painting" Solar Powered"...it's slow going, but I am pleased so far, with how it looks.

Then, there are the other commitments...like premier videos!  Done, and will be posted on MQR tomorrow.

And, my circle lord class that is coming up the end of the month, also at  MQR.   Final editing, etc under way.

And since it's been a while, here's a photo of "solar powered", so you can see that there is indeed progress.

It is very slow going, but that's ok.  5 or 6 more days and it'll be done.

Painting "Solar Powered"

Getting started was the hardest part.  After spending several hundred hours quilting this piece that looked pretty good without the color, I was a little anxious.  But as with many things, that first brush stroke was the most difficult.  Once that was done, I was able to relax and concentrate on building and blending my layers of color. When I have a little extra time, I'll update this project on my website with all the step by step details.  For now though, I'll give you a brief look at the beginning of the task.

The first 3 layers of color to the sun

and the rays

and after the 4th layer...just a touch of gold

I have now finished the sun and moved on to the next section. I'll post another update in a couple days.

New Classes

At MQR.   Starting February 22, 2010 I will be doing an online class series using the Circle Lord.  A one week session each month all year long, featuring a different template each month.  If you are interested in learning some creative ways to use your circle lord you can find the details of the class series and registration info here.

And also at MQR..Starting February 8,2010, Suzanne Earley will be doing her Feather Boot Camp.  If you want to improve the way your feathers look you can check this class out here.

And as long as we're talking about classes, I am also teaching a design class at MQS in May.  "A Walk on the Wide Side"  where we will learn to transform those ungainly wide borders into spectacular complex beauties with ease. You will come away with a lot of new design ideas and you'll never look at wide borders the same again.

So join me! You will be lots of fun and learn tons of useful stuff that will take your quilting to the next level.
